How to Avoid a Las Vegas Rental Scam

Are you searching for a Las Vegas Rental Property? If so, you’ve come to the right place!

Before searching for your next rental, take the next 5 minutes learning more about rental scams just so you can protect yourself by looking for these telltale signs before searching for your next rental property.

Sign #1 – They Are Out of The Country

Thanks to the Internet, scammers are able to stretch their arms farther than ever before because they can communicate with anyone via email without actually being in the same city or town.

If you communicate with a potential owner who says they are out of the country but they want you to visit their rental property anyway, this is a sign that they are probably a scammer who has no affiliation with the property and should not be communicated with again.

Sign #2 – Cash for Keys

As with the first sign that you’re probably dealing with a scammer, another common sign to be on the lookout for is a potential owner who wants you to send them the payment in exchange for them sending you the keys to the property.

Many scammers are able to trap new victims with the classic cash for keys scam every year because they know that if they list a property for far less than what it’s worth they most likely will attract the interest in at least one person who is interested in renting it.

Sign #3 – No Background Required

Last of all, but most important, you should also never agree to rent a property unless the landlord asks you to go through a background check first.

Any owner who offers to rent to you without a background check or credit check is most likely a scammer or someone that won’t respect your rights as a renter in the end.
